WORLDS FIRST CLUB

The oldest single breed specialty club is The Bulldog Club (England), which was formed in 1878.

Members of this club met frequently at the Blue Post pub on Oxford Street London where they drew up the first ever rules of excellence and became the standard of the bulldog which for most is strictly upheld to this day.

The bulldog is now a favourite show breed winning medals as far back as the 1880s and this was around the same time as the American bulldog club had established itself seeing the Bulldog as a breed in its own right.

Nowadays there are many clubs large and small not just in England but the world over and shows go on producing champions all over the globe.

Unfortunately some clubs do not exist anymore and one example is the bulldog club of Forfarshire. Some merged while others disbanded yet there is still a massive bulldog following wether there is club leadership or just in general.

For collectors there are many items you can obtain for your collections from bulldog clubs these can be found by sourcing but as a lot of the older medals were silver or gold most are now gone swallowed by the melting pot.
