Decoupage before and after

YOU CAN DO THIS .
This craft is a simple way to upcycle any article to give it an unusual and different finish it’s achieved by layering and glueing paper
In an attractive way to the surface to almost any article . To change a rather plain or dated object ,,giving it a new appearance .

I had an idea during a cold and boring winter to do some craft work to pass the time indoors.
I had a few Resin Bulldogs one in particular very large i picked up from a garage sale for $5 . The moulding was a true rendition of a lovely Bulldog in repose .

After seeing the various upcycling in paint and glitter applications I thought I would try something different .
I had previously tried Decoupage when it was a craft that was popular at that time .

Being a garden lover I had a large number of Garden Magazines .So I thought the floral scheme may be the way to go.

REQUIREMENTS.
To begin you need only a few items . A good pair of sharp small pointed scissors .Paste brushes .Appropriate Glue .Appropnd Glaze. Allsop some very fine sanding paper .The sandpaper is used to smooth any lines or imperfections between glazes that’s applied in many coats that builds up a finish that gives your item the impression the applications are part of the original.

METHOD .
Collect your cut outs that you think would fit the size and design that would draw your eye. Begin Pasteing. I decide to place the larger flowers on an area that can accommodate it best , like the sides or back of the Dogs body .placing smaller cut outs for
Areas around the facial areas Legs and feet Tiny ones around Eyes Ears . The Tail is fun as its a screw on mine.
It’s important to smooth out any excess glue and air bubbles ,taking care to not tear or crease .Glossy paper seems to have a better depth of colour than thin cheaper paper . Don’t overlap as it makes a ridge . I make a template in some cases to fit them exactly .

GLAZE
At last when your happy with your finished Glued process . Let it dry .check for any gaps if you are doing a complete cover ..
Using the Glaze follow the application on the container.Apply a few coats about 3 before giving it a careful gentle sanding . .
Letting it dry between coats . Ensure there is no dust left between coats ,Use a damp lint free cloth to mop off any dust ..
Some people can give up to 12 or more coats of the glaze , I didn’t do that many before I was satisfied with the look.
This is just a very basic outline ,and I believe any one could try and achieve a good result .So take a chance and try your hand ,
you may be surprised at your skill ,and become a lover of this Old Worldy Craft . Proud of your results ..
