BULLDOGS RUN

HI THERE EVERYBODY TODAYS ARTICLE IS A SHORT STORY WRITTEN BY A FRIEND FOR THE GUEST BLOG SECTION BULLDOGS RUN IS THE TITLE AND THE STORY IS A PASSIVE LOOK AT THE BREEDS AGILTY AND SPEED FOR WHICH TO MANY BECAME A MYTH AGES AGO

BULLDOGS RUN and at a fast pace

Bulldogs run

You can tell a lot from a bulldog it’s speed unfortunately is not one of them EVEN THOUGH BULLDOGS RUN

IT’S OFTEN REPORTED ABOUT THE HEALTH AND ABILITY OF OUR BULLDOGS TO MOVE  AND BREATHE  AT THE SAME TIME .

IT MAYBE TRUE OF SOME THAT ARE REPORTED ON ,THAT STRUGGLE WITH COMPROMISED BREATHING  .
MY EXPERIENCE OF MANY BULLDOGS I HAVE KNOWN AND THOSE I HAVE BRED IS QUITE CONTARY TO THE ABOVE

Seeing bulldogs run

WHILST LIVING ON THIRTEEN ACRES IN THE BEAUTIFUL ADELAIDE HILLS . MY DOGS CERTAINLY HAD THE SPACE TO DEMONSTRATE   THEIR AEROBICS .   JUST TO PAINT A PICTURE  OUR LAND ADJOINED A FARMERS WHO RAN SHEEP AND CATTLE .ONLY 4 STRANDS OF WIRE HELD THESE BEASTS IN . AND TO ENTER OUR PROPERTY WE HAD WHAT WE CALL  CATTLE RAMPS IN AUSTRALIA , THESE CONSIST OF A WIDE GATEWAY THAT HAS A STEEL GRID WITH TUBES OF STEEL SUFFICIENTLY SPACED TO DETER CATTLE FROM PASSING OVER .

BUT AS USUAL THERE IS ALWAYS THE ONE ANIMAL THAT DECIDES  THE GRASS IS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE . SO WHEN THIS HAPPENED WE WERE QUICK TO DRIVE IT OUT .
AND MURPHYS LAW ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAPPEN , ONE PARTICULAR BULLY WE HAD STILL HAD THE AGE OLD GENE TO CHASE THE BULL .
Bulldogs run

I’m that bulldog chasing the steer

Went for a run just not the walkies kind

ONE DAY THE DOG WAS OUT SIDE ENJOYING THE SUN , SNORING AWAY  AND UN NOTICED BY US THE BULL  STEER HAD COME IN . NEXT THING THE CHASE WAS ON  , BULLDOG AND TWO PERSONS TRYING TO CATCH THE DOG  WHO WAS MUCH FASTER THAN WE COULD EVER BE . HOT ON THE HEELS OF THE ANIMAL  RELENTLESS IN PURSUIT.

HERE WAS MY PRECIOUS SHOW DOG IN INCHES OF BEING KICKED BY THE STEER . RUNNING AND SHOUTING THE TYPICAL STUBBORN BULLY NEVER GAVE UP . AROUND AND AROUND WE ALL RAN ,UP THE SLOPES AND DOWN AGAIN . MANY LASHINGS CAME OUT OF THE STEER AND EVENTUALLY ONE LANDED A BLOW  , I NEARLY FAINTED I AM SURE I ENVISAGED A DEAD DOG .

BULLOGS RUN now Run hubby Run

BUT NO WAY UP HE GOT AND CONTINUED CHASING THE NOW TIRING  ANIMAL . EVENTUALLY EVEN BULLDOGS RUN OUT OF PUFF .A RUGBY LIKE TACKLE BY MY HUBBY BROUGHT THE BOY TO GROUND . THE BULLDOG I MEAN NOT THE STEER .

I CAN SAY I WAS NEVER MORE RELIEVED TO SEE MY DOG UNSCATHED  . EXTRA VIGILANCE   WAS THE RULE OF THE DAY .
I THINK MY HEART IS BEATING A LITTLE FASTER AGAIN  ,JUST AS I AM WRITING AND RECALLING THE EVENT .
BULLDOGS THAT ARE BRED WELL  CAN STILL MOVE AND CHASE , THANK THE LORD THE OLD WAYS ARE GONE WHEN THE BREED WAS USED FOR THE PRACTISE OF BRINGING THE BULL DOWN .
